Germany: what happened to 'never again'?
Democracy means the right to protest, dissent, and demand accountability from our leaders. Yet, over the past 7 months in Germany, we’ve observed a troubling consensus among mainstream political parties—an unwavering support for Netanyahu’s extremist government, now subject to an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes.
While defending the Israeli governments actions in Gaza, Germany has compromised its democratic integrity, rule of law, and the right to protest. From cancelling protests and the Palestine Congress, to banning key witnesses of the Gaza genocide, like Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah, and deploying violence against peaceful protestors. We must resist this authoritarian shift and denounce the German government’s oppressive measures used to silence Palestinian voices.
It's time to reject Germany’s authoritarian tactics, its blatant silencing, and its hypocritical stance on the plight of Palestinians. On June 9, vote for MERA25 in Greece, Germany and Italy so that we can call them out and unmask their hypocrisy!
