Transitions, titles and effects are the steps that you will go through at some point while creating and editing your film with Adobe Premiere. In this tutorial, we are going to teach you more about creating titles for your film, dealing with keyframes and animation, knowing more about video transitions and handling the video effects.
It is always easier to start with learning how to make titles before you go forward to the point of learning how to build transitions, and that's the same sequence we are going to deal with in this video.
So, how to make a new title? In order to create a new title in your film, you will go to 'file', 'new' and then click on 'legacy title'. Once you choose the legacy title option, you will get some options which you could play with, such as the resolution option, the film title, etc. and once you click OK or done, you will find a window with all the different options that you could play with. In this window, you could write your title name in the safety box and you could then make the font bigger or smaller and you could place it in the center, to the right or left, change the font and every other thing that is related to playing with the fonts like making it bold, italic, etc.
There are lots of interesting things to do when it comes to creating a title in addition to the basic way of doing it, such as creating a path on which the title will be written on or will walk through, and there are also those different shapes which you could draw along with creating the title; it will all depend on the title you are writing and how you want it to look like.
When it comes to the colors of the font, you could go basic and choose a color from the ordinary palette which we are all used to, and you could also get a little bit creative and choose any of the other effects offered by Adobe Premiere such as putting textures on the word or even putting a video on it - which are all offered to you through the program - but we are going simple in this video to make it easier for the beginners. There are also the inner and outer strokes for the titles, the shadows, and all these effects which you might already know about from other programs or from Adobe Photoshop if you have dealt with it before.
After knowing how to deal with the titles - which we believe is very easy and straightforward - we will move to the part related to the transitions. On your timeline, you will have the clip that you are going to work on - and we have the title we have created - which you are going to do your transition on. If you 'right click' on the clip on which you want the effects to appear, you will make sure that opacity is selected, you will choose to make it faster or slower and what it does is show you the line on the clip which you could use in order to animate the opacity. This is very useful because it will help you with the fading in and out that you might want to apply to your opening of the film or movie which you are creating with Adobe.
In addition to the fade in/out transition that you could create, there is also the other types of transitions that could be done and created between the clips or the scenes; the scene to scene transition. One of the examples for the offered transitions by Adobe is the "cross dissolve" which you could easily search for in the effects menu and just click and drag it between the two different clips which you want to link between with this different effect. You could always change how long you want this effect to stay for and for how long you want it to be there.
Generally speaking about the effects that you could insert into your clip, there are different ones on Adobe Premiere and you will get introduced to every single one of them while you try it and see what it is doing to your picture. You will find all these different effects in the 'effect control' menu and you will manage to choose every single one of them whenever you want and even edit how much you want it to be appealing. Some of these effects are even not applicable for a film you are creating, but sometimes people need them for specific needs which they want to create.
