As therapists, we're unfortunately quite capable of shaming our fellow therapists about money.
A therapist advocating for higher pay gets labeled as “greedy” and uncaring whereas a therapist working a thanklessly low-paying job gets called out for practicing poor self-care or not prioritizing their household finances.
This happens for a variety of reasons - far too many to tackle in a single episode. But I thought we could look at one variable: how a dollar amount equals different amounts based on an individual's financial situation.
A dollar means different things in different contexts, and I think that's important to consider before we go judging each other about what we charge or how much we make. I do a deep dive into what I mean in today's episode.
