Tim Senic Takes Flight During Dirt Track Race (2/15/2005)
Occurred in Barberville, Florida on February 15, 2005.
During a race at the Volusia Speedway, late model driver Tim Senic simultaneously astonished and horrified the crowd with an accident no one in attendance will ever forget. Between turns 3 & 4 Senic's car veered to the right and vaulted over the guard rail into the tree line near the track. At the time of the wreck, no one knew who wrecked out into the trees until rescue crews found the car upside down with the back end cracked in half and the rollbars completely broken.
Incredibly, Senic escaped the wreck without injury, he even kept a sense of humor about the freak accident. While surveying his car in the pit area afterward, he noted that the line of destruction his mount left in its wake was significant.
“One guy from around here came over and told me I did more damage to the track than the hurricanes did the previous summer,” said Senic.
