In hospital recovering from a left upper lobectomy to treat his lung cancer, Aaron Sinai was on a ventilator and unable to eat for almost 30 days. When Aaron's breathing improved, Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP) Emily Barrett used Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), traditionally practiced once on the onset of treatment to determine a patient's ability to eat and drink, multiple times to monitor Aaron's progress, and therefore alter his diet during his stay in hospital.
