Now in its eleventh year, BMI’s annual pre-GRAMMY event, “How I Wrote That Song” offers insight into the craft and creative process behind today’s biggest hits. For this year’s iteration, held in Harlem’s World-Famous Apollo Theater in Manhattan, BMI assembled a stellar lineup of producers, songwriters such as Faith Evans, RedOne, Tory Lanez and Mark Batson to share their stories and offer their advice about songwriting and making music. Moderated by BMI’s Vice President, Creative, Catherine Brewton, the panel was treated to a surprise guest, as renowned hit-maker Rodney Jerkins, also known as DarkChild, assumed the stage to provide invaluable advice and encourage the crowd to never give up on their craft. Check out what Tory Lanez had to say from the red carpet.
