1 марта 2010 года. Ровно 10 лет со дня великого подвига российских десантников. Бой у высоты 776 — эпизод Второй чеченской войны, в ходе которого 6-я рота 2-го батальона 104-го парашютно-десантного полка 76-й (Псковской) дивизии ВДВ (подполковник М. Н. Евтюхин) вступила в бой под Аргуном в Чечне, на рубеже Улус-Керт—Сельментаузен, на высоте 776 с отрядом чеченских боевиков, руководимых Хаттабом и превосходившим их в 20 раз.
Капитан В. В. Романов после гибели командира роты М. Н. Евтюхина вызвал огонь на себя. Высоту накрыли артиллерийским огнём, однако боевикам удалось прорваться из Аргунского ущелья. Точные данные о потерях в рядах боевиков отсутствуют. По данным федеральных сил, их потери составили 400 или 500 человек.
В бою погибло 84 военнослужащих 6-й и 4-й рот, в том числе 13 офицеров. В живых остались только 6 бойцов.

The Battle for Height 776, the best known part of the larger Battle of Ulus-Kert, was a controversial engagement in the Second Chechen War. On February 29, 2000, just hours after the Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev had assured his government that the Chechen War was over, an isolated Russian force based around a company of paratroopers of the 76th Airborne Division from the city of Pskov found itself cut off at a hill top in the way of a retreating Chechen column under the command of Ibn Al-Khattab.
The official federal estimate rose to about 500 enemy dead according to the Russian government website, while the state-controlled English language TV station Russia Today referred to even over 700 fighters killed. According to official Russian data, 84 soldiers were killed in the fighting on the hill, including all officers. Only six, Russian rank-and-file soldiers survived the battle, four of them injured.
