After Akai announced the release of their new MPC studio mk2 last week, which clearly has the Maschine mikro mk3 in its crosshairs, I had to get myself one right away. To test the pads, and of course to compare it to the mikro mk3, since that unit is my main recommendation for finger drumming at this time. I had to know if this new MPC device could be a viable alternative. Spoiler: it sort of is, but I'm hesitant to recommend it, which is why I made this video to explain.
