Welcome to our Diablo IV Season 1 Preparation Guide! The Season of the Malignant is about to begin on July 20th, and we have all the essential information you need to fully prepare for an exciting fresh start experience. In this video, we'll cover everything you should do before the Season starts to make the most out of your Diablo IV journey.
The Season of the Malignant introduces a thrilling new gameplay element where you hunt down and eliminate Malignant Enemies to obtain powerful Malignant Hearts. These hearts can be socketed into the correctly colored slots on your Jewelry (Amulet and Rings) to create unique and powerful broken builds! Before the Season begins, the Pre-Season patch arrives on July 18th, bringing balance changes, new Uniques, Legendary Aspects, and Renown propagating to your entire account. To transfer your Renown progress, make sure to log into your characters between the 18th and 20th. Your progress in Altars of Lillith and Discovered Areas will carry over to your Seasonal Characters, so remember to log into all characters if your progression is split across several.
During the recent Livestream, the developers unveiled Cormond, your guide to the Season of the Malignant. To participate in Seasonal content, you must complete the campaign. Take the time to finish the Campaign on any character (softcore or hardcore) before July 20th. If you need a build for your journey, don't worry, we've got you covered.
To fully engage in the Season, create a Seasonal character and select "Skip Campaign" to immediately assist Cormond and start collecting Malignant Hearts from level 1. Don't forget to utilize your trusty Horse for faster traversal.
Discovering Altars of Lillith is crucial for your progression. Each Altar grants 10 Renown, along with valuable Attributes, Murmuring Obols, and Paragon Points. Scattered throughout Sanctuary, there are 160 Altars waiting to be found. Make it a priority to locate every Altar of Lillith to be well-prepared for Season 1. Remember, Altar of Lillith bonuses apply to your entire account, and as of July 18th, Renown becomes account-wide, simplifying the leveling process for your Seasonal character.
Check out any Altar of Lillith guide for efficient locations and tips to collect them all. While it may be a bit tedious, rest assured that you only need to complete this task once.
The World Map begins obscured by fog of war, but as you explore Sanctuary, areas will be revealed, granting 5 Renown for each discovery. There are a total of 307 areas to find. The good news is that Blizzard has confirmed your progression and Renown will transfer to your Seasonal characters. Therefore, embark on a journey across Sanctuary and unveil as much of the map as possible before the Season begins on the 20th!
In Season 1 and beyond, a portion of your Renown transfers to all characters on your account once unlocked, making you significantly stronger and allowing for faster leveling. Unlocking +1 Skill Point requires 200 Renown in each region, and an additional 300 Renown will grant you +1 Potion Capacity. With +5 Skill Points and +5 Potion Charges, early levels become a breeze. In most zones, a few Side Quests, Strongholds, Waypoints, or Dungeons will be enough to reach 900 Renown and unlock another Skill Point.
