So, how does one become a Champion?

While all of us know that a Goal is required, some have goals & many don’t have. Champions have their goals WRITTEN & they read & visualise it every single day. While you may have your goals, do you have it in writing and do you read & visualise the same every day?

The Secret is beyond just reading & visualising.

Most of us do what is most comfortable & convenient. We do not attempt to do anything that is outside our comfort zone. Even if we attempt, we take a U-turn, and comeback to our comfort zone (I call it as C-zone). What we have in our life today is the result of this zone. If you want better results, move to a zone where you may find those results. Move to your Goal zone (G-Zone).

During this journey, the path may have several challenges, speed breakers, hurdles, thorns, ……

Do you think champions like to come out of their comfort zone? No, but still they come out.
Do you think champions like to face all these challenges, hurdles & speed breakers during their journey towards their goal? No, but still they face & get through this.

How are they able to do this?

I cannot wait to reveal those 3 secrets to you…. Let me reveal it straight away…
When champions encounter these challenges, they do not look back at the comfort zone (C-Zone), instead they resort to the following 3 secrets,

Secret #1: Knowledge,
Knowledge is what to do & why to do? They ask themselves the “why” of their journey. They are extremely clear about the “purpose” of this journey. So, they look for alternatives, options & solutions, instead of simply getting back to their C-Zone. Their purpose is so strong that they keep on looking for “What to do to get through this phase?” For example, just having the knowledge that swimming is good for health does not make one proficient in swimming. Image your friend jumping into water after studying 10 books in swimming. Once champions are clear about “What” & “Why”, they go back to the next secret.

Secret #2: Skills,
Champions explore the “How”. They learn how to do things. They do not just preach from the book. They are the book themselves. They walk the talk. They practice what they preach. They learn by doing. As they do this regularly, practice every day, they become experts in that art of doing. It becomes like a habit, just as a person who goes for a walk or jog, gets into that discipline, and if he doesn’t do the same, he feels very uncomfortable.
This means, that the new discipline has become his new norm & he has now developed the new comfort zone which I call as the intermediate zone (I-Zone) that is closer towards his goal. Yes! the comfort zone has shifted instead of the person shifting back to the comfort zone.

Many of us develop this discipline & feel happy about this. However, over a period of time, several external factors influence us and gradually, we do not practice the skill we have acquired. We stop doing that yoga that we learnt. We stop going to the gym. We gradually get back to old habits. We start giving excuses for slipping back. We start shifting back to C-Zone from the I-Zone

Champions are always aware about this fact: - “We can either have excuses or results, not both”. They develop the 3rd secret & start moving from I-Zone to G-Zone

Secret#3: Mindset (attitude)
We have all heard “Attitude is everything”
Champions develop that attitude that will take them to the altitude they aspire for. They develop the “Never ever, give up attitude”. They constantly visualise the END in mind. They feel being in the Goal zone (G-Zone). They are emotionally connected to G-Zone. They act as if they are in G-Zone.

Once we have such powerful visualisation with persistent action, we too can become champions.
