Every season is beautiful in Yamadera, but I have to say, winter is my absolute favorite.
I can't stress enough how much having snowshoes and/or snow spikes, gloves, and a hat/helmet is important. I've seen people wearing sneakers, leather shoes, even heels, stuck on the frozen stairs, scared to climb down. Please, please, please, be prepared so you can have a pleasant experience.

During the winter, Yamadera is open from 8:30 AM to 16:00.

*Visitors are asked to pass the entrance gate by 15:00.
