Born Antoine Dominique Domino Jr. in New Orleans, Louisiana, started his musical career in 1949 with the recording of "The Fat Man" on December 10th on the Imperial Label. His following recordings were well received by the buying public because of his unique style of singing. It is said Fats Domino had a memory problem when it came to recording in that he would forget some of the lyrics and would "ad lib" that which he couldn't remember. Such was the case of this 1955 recording of "Ain't It A Shame". Throughout this recording, Fats Domino would inject, "Ain't That A Shame" into the recording. Whether this was intentional, is not know but the executives at Imperial Records agreed to leave it in and after a few releases, "Ain't That A Shame" was imprinted on the label. Fats Domino would go on to have many mega hits in his singing career and he retired to birthplace of New Orleans.
