Barbie is a cultural icon, and her presence throughout pop culture since she was first introduced to us has been constant. As time has moved on, Barbie has also thankfully evolved to suit a more inclusive beauty standard rather than the rigid and unattainable one that blossomed as a result of the brand. In fact, in 2017, Mattel made history with the release of the first hijab-wearing Barbie.
Barbie's bright and everlasting star power, and it's clear that she isn't going anywhere soon. Princess Merliah Summers is the half-princess of Oceana and stars in Barbie in a Mermaid Tale and Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2. Merliah is a teenage surfer in Malibu. Her mother is a Queen of the underwater world of Oceana and her father is a common man from the surface world. Since she is half mermaid and half human she spends her time with friends above the waves surfing and friends below the waves as well.
Princess Anneliese is played by Barbie in the classic Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper a big fan favorite. She is a princess with a big heart to do good for her kingdom and everyone she meets. In her free time Anneliese enjoys reading books and learning something new daily. She enjoys exploring and helping her people and she falls in love with her tutor Julian.
Elina is a flower fairy played by Barbie in Barbie Fairtopia series of films. She is often made fun of since she does not have wings like the other fairies. Realizing something in Fairytopia is going wrong she takes action and shows strong leadership traits to unite her friends and fairies to save the meadow. Elina is finally rewarded for her bravery and selfless acts with new wings from the Fairytopia ruler Enchantress.
Princess Genevieve is played by Barbie in Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses. She is 1 out of 12 daughters of King Randolph and Queen Isabella. Genevieve loves her family and loves to dance every chance she gets. She is very smart and even beats her father at a game of chess, but she is never on time. When Dutchess Rowena arrives to cause trouble Genevieve and her family must work together to save the kingdom.
Queen Erika is played by Barbie in Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper. She grows up poor and is a very talented singer who often sings on the street with her cat to help make some money. Erika does everything she can to help her family get ahead and ends up falling in love with King Dominick.
Mariposa is the main character in the Barbie: Mariposa series who lives in Flutterfield with her pet fluffball Zee. She is quiet and kind hearted. After first not showing much confidence in herself she realized she had a lot to offer after saving her Flutterfield kingdom.
Delancy Devin is a student at Princess Charm School. She is the leading role in the Barbie movie Barbe Princess Charm School. Delancy is a popular girl at the school. She is shown as mean and self centered. After tragedy strikes Delancy has a change of heart and begins to emphasize acts of kindness and values doing the right thing.
Number 3. Princess Rosella.
Princess Rosella is played by Barbie in Barbie: The Island Princess and is the only daughter of Queen Marissa. Rosella sometimes called Ro was raised from humble beginnings on an island with her animal friends. After saving Antono’s life she has a strong sense of adventure and agrees to see his kingdom in hopes of reuniting with her family someday.
Princess Rapunzel is played by Barbie in the animated movie Barbie as Rapunzel. Rapunzel is very nice to everyone she meets and loves to paint every chance she gets. She grows up in a castle as a young servant until she learns the truth about her childhood.
Princess Odette is played by Barbie in the movie Barbie of Swan Lake. She is a beautiful girl who finds a magical forest where she is turned into a swan. She rallies her friends to free the enchanted forest and break the swan spell.
