Have you ever wondered where these weirdo cactus come from?
In the world of cactus collectors, there is a high value placed on mutant plants that are either crested, variegated, monstrose or bizarre in some other way and Mytrillocactus is notoriously diverse in its many expressions of growth. It’s a species that’s given us Grecas, the boobie cactus, various beautiful crested forms that color in the enviromental stress giving it hues of pink to blue to red to purple. One of the most sough after freakish forms of Mytrillo is called “Glorp”. Resembling a glaucous melting candle Glorp reminds me of Halloween letters dropping and melting into one another. In todays episode I had a chance run in with James Peterson who discovered it and gave it its namesake.
