We made drone history!
Drone History:
Shooting holographic reflective material is no easy task, but add in shooting it from an FPV Drone and we had set ourselves up for one huge challenge. Initially, we thought we would be able to just put a light on the ground and point it directly at the football so that the FPV drone could visibly pick it up. However, after testing camera angles, lights, and picture profiles we realized that when shooting holographic material the light source and the camera lens angle have to be pointed in the same direction and degree. Even if the light source was at 180 degrees and the camera lens was pointed at 175 degrees, the camera would not be able to pick up the holographic material.
After a couple weeks of testing we finally decided we needed to mount a Lumecube to the bottom of the FPV drone. We flew the FPV drone at night with the light on to capture the unique holographic reflective material of the HoloGear football; an unprecedented maneuver that highlights the true glory of this breakthrough product. Not only were we able to capture the holographic material with a white light source, but we were able to integrate multicolor light sources into the shoot, all while filming from the Onewheel!
