This is my review / first impression of the Callisto protocol. I hate that i do not like this gam. I hate that I hate this game. Callisto is a beautiful game that could have been so much more but instead left me feeling just frustration.
The saddest part is that I didn't even finish the game. I know for a lot of folks that right their will render my opinion null and void but I had it. Visually Callisto is drop dead gorgeous but the combat ruins everything.
The dodge system they implemented is the worst I have seen in this type of game. Rather than giving the game a dedicated dodge button they turned it into some sort of weird mini game where you have to counter an enemies attack with the left stick in either direction and from there keep toggling back and forth the dodge enemy combos. The game will spawn enemies into the room during combat in order to overwhelm you from behind so you cannot see them coming, the field of view is so tight on the main character that you cannot see a damn thing and the amount of cheap attacks from enemies coming at you from across the screen is ridiculous.
Callisto is not the worst game ever but It is not what I paid for and not worth my time finishing if all it is going to do is frustrate the hell out of me the entire time. I say wait for the reviews for the dead space remake and give that a try.
