According to a report by SFGate, on Friday, the Weather Channel has released a statement in defense of a reporter accused of faking the strength of Hurricane Florence's winds in a clip that went viral on social media. Weather Channel reporter Mike Seidel could be seen bracing of what would appear to strong winds, however two men can be seen casually walking behind him. The clip reportedly went viral on Twitter, with tweets accusing Seidel of exaggerating for dramatic effect. In a statement sent to The Washington Post, The Weather Channel said, “It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted."
