Visiting Southern California is always a treat! Fully embracing the role of a tourist exploring one the move beautiful coastlines in the world sure does work up an appetite. Getting to meet up with old friends and meeting new friend over food and drinks is a wonderful experience. And the food in San Diego is simply amazing...fresh seafood, produce, and the culinary influences down south, it is really a treat. But it is the wonderful bounty of seafood that shines, and today, I get to visit and eat at an historical iconic restaurant for yet more seafood. This is Tom Ham's lighthouse serving up an incredible Sunday Brunch Seafood buffet. Vegas style buffet with the views from the West coast.
The seafood bar certainly did not disappoint. The field of oysters acres long! And while the lobsters and crabs of many varieties were staples there, it was the scallops that stole the show! These has got to be the largest scallops I've ever seen; fresh, shucked, and served on the half shell. A great pro tip from Luce and Sarah is the take your seafood and have the great folks, Andrew/Hector, cook up your crustaceans for you! From a perfectly seared scallop, a hot saucy lobster, to a freshly made seafood pasta, they've got to you set.
And that's just the start! Off the a side, a somewhat hidden room, you'll find all the buffet dishes! From a 4 cheese mac and cheese, to the tender roast and the mountains of desserts, you'll have everything you need of a memorable buffet. Amazing food, great views, and of course friendly service!
