#google docs Google Docs does not have a built-in feature to insert a vertical line. However, you can use a workaround to create a vertical line using the drawing tools in Google Docs. Here's how:
1. Open your Google Docs document and go to the page where you want to insert the vertical line.
2. Click on the "Insert" menu at the top of the screen and select "Drawing" from the dropdown menu. This will open the Google Docs drawing editor.
3. In the drawing editor, click on the "Line" tool in the toolbar. It is represented by a diagonal line.
4. Click and drag on the canvas to draw a horizontal line of the desired length.
5. To change the line orientation to vertical, click on the line to select it. You should see small blue squares called "handles" appear at each end of the line.
6. Hover your cursor over the handle at the top end of the line. The cursor will change to a curved arrow.
7. Click and drag the handle upwards to rotate the line until it becomes vertical.
8. Adjust the position and length of the line as needed by clicking and dragging the handles.
9. Once you are satisfied with the vertical line, click on the "Save and Close" button at the top right of the drawing editor. The vertical line will be inserted into your Google Docs document.
Please note that the line created using this method is treated as a drawing object and not as a part of the text flow. It means the line may not move with the text if you add or delete content above it. You can adjust the positioning of the line as needed.
Keep in mind that Google Docs may have added new features or updates since my knowledge cutoff, so it's worth checking the current version for any new options for inserting vertical lines.
