IMAM AL BUKHARI - BIOGRAPHY AND TRAVEL COLLECTING HADITS
Imam Bukhari was born with the full name Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Ismail bin Ibrahim bin al-Mughirah bin Bardizbah al-Ju'fi al-Bukhari. Imam Bukhori was born on Friday on the 13th of Shawwal, 194 H or 21 July, 810 AD in the city of Bukhara which is located in the middle of Uzbekistan.
Imam Bukhari began studying hadith in 205 AH since he was a child. Imam Bukhari began memorizing the works of Abdullah ibn al-Mubaarak.
Imam Bukhari started traveling with his mother and brother in 210 AH. At the age of 10, Imam Bukhari made a pilgrimage to Mecca. From there he made a series of trips to Balkh, Naisabur, Rayy, Baghdad, Basra, Kufa, Egypt and Sham to increase his knowledge of hadith.
He talked with scholars and exchanged information about hadith. It is said that Imam Bukhari heard more than 1,000 people, and studied more than 600,000 hadiths.
After sixteen years of traveling to various cities in collecting hadiths, Imam Bukhari returned to Bukhara.
There he compiled the famous book, the book Al-Jami 'as-Sahih or later known as Ash-Sahih or Sahih Al Bukhari.
This book contains a collection of 7,275 hadiths that have been tested and arranged in various chapters so that they can become the basis for a complete system of jurisprudence.
In 250 H / 864 AD, Imam Bukhari settled in Naisabur, Iran. At that time in that city, he met Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj who later became his student.
Political problems in Naisabur, made Imam Bukhari move to Khartan, a village near Samarkand, Uzbekiztan, where he remained until his death. Imam Bukhari died on the night of Eid in 870 AD or 256 Hijri according to historians.
