MARS-2 (MLRS Artillery Rocket System) - это современная система реактивной артиллерии, созданная на основе американской системы М270 MLRS, которая была принята на вооружение в 1990 году.
Изначально вместо М270 MLRS планировалось ввести в эксплуатацию систему LARS 2, разработанную полностью немецкими инженерами. Однако, несмотря на внедрение ряда усовершенствований, LARS 2 была отвергнута ввиду своей относительно небольшой дальности стрельбы (15 км) и того, что она считалась морально устаревшей.
