How to Install Atom Editor on Ubuntu
Atom is an open-source cross-platform code editor developed by GitHub. It has a built-in package manager, embedded Git control, smart auto completion, syntax highlighting and multiple panes. [ DON'T CLICK THIS - http://bit.ly/3pSTQlc ]
The easiest and recommended way to install Atom on Ubuntu machines is to install the debian package. Although this tutorial is written for Ubuntu the same instructions apply for any Debian based distribution, including Debian, Linux Mint and Elementary OS.
Instructions -
1. Download the atom debian package from https://atom.io/
2. Open up the terminal
3. sudo apt-get update
4. sudo apt-get install git
[if there are any errors type sudo apt-get install -f]
5. sudo dpkg -i atom-amd64.deb
[if there are any errors type sudo apt-get install -f]
6. Launch Atom and enjoy programming!
