Lesson talks about basic theory : Diatonic scale, scale tone 7ths, modes, and harmonic concepts as a structure for adding melody and melodic lines. Starting with a simple chord progression: I VI-II-V, you will learn to create melodic lines and motifs over a basic chord structure. Also covered is chord substitution and alteration. This lesson does not talk about lyric writing. That will be discussed in another lesson, however it talks about basic principles for good melodic and harmonic structure.
