Hate crimes are on the rise in Ontario by 65 per cent from 2016 to 2017, according to Statistics Canada. One of the largest-growing groups are those that define themselves by extreme-right ideology: white nationalists, white supremacists, neo-Nazis, or alt-right. Dr. Barbara Perry, the director of the Centre on Hate, Bias and Extremism, talks to Steve Paikin about the compelling forces that are attracting people to these movements.
