I'm still struggling to understand what happens if a snapshot is deleted and what is meant by "changes are consolidated to the parent snapshot disk" Is the parent snapshot disk the vmdk? Lets say for instance, you are happy with the your servers promotion to a domain controller, and everything is running as it should. You don't want the snapshot to continue to run because that is going to consume disk space and affect your server's performance. Which action effectively stops the snapshot but leaves your VM exactly where it is now ..i.e added to the domain and promoted as a DC? If you could cover that in another tutorial or point me to the one where it is already covered, that would be great. Hope that makes sense.
