In this video, we will talk about how to create a dynamic serial number for the Filtered Data column using SUBTOTAL and COUNTA function
When working with Excel, there are some small tasks that need to be done quite often. Knowing the ‘right way’ can save you a great deal of time.
One such simple task is to number the rows of a dataset in Excel (also known as the serial numbers in a dataset).
In this video, we will talk about how to maintain the continuity of serial numbers even when the data is filtered. This means how to again start the serial numbers from 1 and then extend it only for the filtered data.
Imagine having multiple filters in your sheet/table during the data exploration and then if the serial numbers are still following the order automatically isn't that awesome.
We will use a counta function to count the rows and the subtotal function will make sure to do the counting only on the visible data.
