Lotus Notes Password Change Single Logon Your Windows Password Does Not Match Your Notes
When starting Lotus Notes you may see this messsage:
"Your Windows password does not match your Notes password. You may change your password at any time via File - Security - User Security. Would you like to change your Notes password immediately after loging in?"
It only occurs on Windows 7 platform.
The message is telling you the truth. The Notes ID for that user and the log in they used to log into Windows is not the same. This is a feature of Lotus Notes since 6.5 I think. You can turn it off so that it forces the user to authenticate to get into Lotus Notes each time using the supplies Notes ID password along with the users name in the ID file.
If you do not need this for various reasons, it can be annoying when it comes up every day.
To turn it off open Lotus Notes then click FILE - SECURITY - User Security. This is going to ask you for the user IDs password. Then once you are in the security settings you can either make the user password match the Windows password using the “Change Password” button or uncheck the box that says to log in to notes using your operating system login. Click OK and then you are done. but if the box can not uncheck please follow other way to turn it off.
There is a windows service that loads to manage single sign in. You can find it in the user's Windows services. you can stop and disable the password service by closing Lotus Notes and doing:
Start - Control Panel - Adminstrative Tools - Component Services - Services (Local) - Lotus Notes Single Logon.
or press windows logo and R and type services.msc - Lotus Notes Single Logon.
Change the startup type to disabled by seleting the line then right clicking on options. Stop the service by clicking on stop. Restart the Notes client and you will be prompted for the user password normally.
