Why use Hard Ops for extruding along normals? - Blender
I just want to highlight the comment from lightdark4340; you can also press Alt or S when using the native Alt+E option. It's still an extra click but if you don't have Hard Ops is a great option to make life easier. Thanks for sharing @lightdark4340
