File Server Failure & Disaster Recovery (Server Room)
First of all apologies for the green screen at 9 minutes it'll only last 10 seconds or so so hang on in there! A file server has died in the server room and I need to fix it, users are unable to access their data and a resolution is required fast!
On reflection it would be a more ideal to set up a new server with a RAID 5 or 6 array for redundancy.
Watch me as I setup a new file server running server 2012 R2 and install it into our server room. This video was recorded as and when it happened, it has taken a day of recovery time and planning.
When disaster strikes, I was prepared. All filming is shown running on a live network. Good to keep us on our toes!
The users affected can now access their files and had only a few hours downtime. Awesome!
Please note MBR limit 2TB (forgot this noobish mistake at the time)
We raid 0 for performance as we run daily offsite and onsite backups to ensure all data is thoroughly backed up and secure.
