In recent news, SM's new girl group aespa is caught in the midst of a controversy. The new group consists of members Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning. They have been promoting their new debut song, Black Mamba. They have also performed their hit debut song, Black Mamba on Mnet's MAMA 2020 on December 6, 2020.
On November 9, 2020, aespa performed their debut track, "Black Mamba" on SBS's "Inkigayo", and a fancam of fellow member NingNing was uploaded on December 1 on SBS's official youtube channel. The video sparked controversy for such a phrase uttered in the video.
Within the first ten seconds of the video, a voice - assumed to be coming from a male staff member could be heard commenting. The alleged staff member can be heard saying, “It’s fu***** uncoordinated.” Things got heated up even further because the comment included a curse word. This made many fans who came to watch the video upset.
Those who saw the video are expressing outrage over SBS and the staff for their unprofessionalism. Many have called out SBS for not editing out the sound out of respect for Aespa and Ningning. Others also wonder if SBS and their staff have a grudge against SM Entertainment and their artists.
However, some have pointed out that the staff could possibly be not from the broadcasting station. The staff could possibly be from SM Entertainment themselves. Currently, it is unknown who the staff member works under.
MYs are upset after hearing SBS staff allegedly being rude to aespa.
SBS issued an apology, on November 7 by iterating, “We have confirmed that in the process of filming the fancam, a conversation unrelated to aespa’s stage was recorded and included in the final fancam. The staff that manages YouTube video uploads was not able to catch this detail before posting it. We apologize to those that may have taken offense by this matter. We will take more care with future uploads.”
