19th of May 2021 YouTube sent an email with the updated Terms of Service, in which they are mentioned changes for 3 most important things which we really have to consider. Now the 1st one is Facial Recognition Restrictions. 2nd is YouTube's right to monetize, and 3rd is royalty payments and tax withholding.

Now one thing to understand here is these terms of service were implemented first in U.S in November 2020, so that means it is already implemented there, and outside of us, it is going to be implemented from June 1. So, what are these things. Now the first most important thing is facial recognition restrictions. Now this is not something very new, this was already there, but this time they are explicitly saying this. Now what exactly is this. Now, when we are creating videos, which is going to be uploaded on YouTube. We got to make sure that our video does not have any person or something where there could be a facial recognition of that person, which could affect their privacy.

To make it simple. Now say for example there is a Creator who is creating a prank videos or funny videos right now, say for example, the video is being created in the park. Right. When the video, when the Prime Video is created, there will be people in that video right. So before according to YouTube, the creators should make sure that he is taking the permission from the people who are actually appearing in that video, right, where their face can be recognized, which, which automatically system can identify why because, to protect the privacy of that particular person. Right, that's the first most important thing one should consider. Now it could also be the other thing, say for example okay you really love the street food. Right. So you see somebody is preparing great dish on the street. So you're going to capture the video.

Now when you capture the video before uploading to YouTube, make sure you have taken permission from that person. You have actually spoken to him and said, Can I actually put this video on YouTube, so you got to make sure you are not just uploading to YouTube, without taking any explicit permission from that particular piece. So that's the first most important thing, What we should be considering, right, that's a facial recognition jurisdiction.

Right. And next most important thing is, YouTube's right to monetize it. This is one of the most important thing which we need to understand now what YouTube is saying is, after June 1 YouTube has the right to play ads on the videos for which the channel is not even monetized.

That means, say for example, the channel has still not achieved 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours, even on those channels, YouTube can start to run the ads, and what our revenue is going to be generated from that, that complete revenue is going to go to YouTube, it is not going to come to the creators.

Now say for example, after some time you achieved the criteria of 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours. After that you can certainly apply for YouTube partnership program, and whatever revenue is going to be generated after that is certainly going to be shared with you. As per the old guidelines whatever was there. Now the third most important thing, royalty payments and tax withholding.

A couple of weeks back there was also one more update from YouTube. Regarding US Tax Withholding right where they clearly mentioned to fill the US tax details so that appropriate tax will be deducted from the creators. For the revenue that is being generated from us. Now if you're not aware of that details, then certainly take the info link and you can watch the complete video to understand in detail, and make sure you are going to fill that details so that you're going to pay a tax, which is applicable for your country. If your country is in tax treaty with us you are going to pay 15% tax.

If not, you're going to pay higher tax. And if you're not going to submit the data is, you're going to pay 24% tax on the complete income whatever you're generating from the entire world. So make sure you go to fill that details.
