A/C OEM Condenser versus aftermarket condenser.LOST MONEY !!!
How much money was lost trying to save 80 bucks or $100 difference in the price of a condenser. Initial diagnostic a few days ago one hour labor $154. I went out of my way to meet a customer that was only a few blocks away from the body shop at his job site. Diagnosed found a leak and reported back to the original body shop under the insurance claim for them to change that condenser that I often found fittings when taken apart we’re just a few thousands of an inch larger in diameter and they would perfectly seal and hold a leak under vacuum and I did a nitrogen pressure to Kate asked and still hold and not leak under static operating conditions. Then the customer a few days later when the new condenser arrives Hass to go out of their way to drop off the vehicle to have a new condenser replaced the body shop Hass to take an employee off of another job at their $140- $150 an hour labor rate to go back onto this original vehicle remove the bumper remove the condenser. On top of that they’re paying me to come back out a second time to recharge it this is why F refrigerant at $150 a pound the total charge for just refrigerant was $284.25 The labor at $154 an hour what time 1.4 hours for the AC recharge was $215.60. So in total because Insurance company wanted to use a quality aftermarket part to save them $50-$80 or $100 difference not only did the shop have to eat labor off of another job they ended up paying me $653.85 between the diagnosis and recharge on top of the first time I charge them for the recharge. If this was an OEM condenser and this happened I would’ve been the entire job including diagnostic materials and labor everything for free. Do you use aftermarket part on AC condensers no mercy no break nothing 100% charge think of it is the price of education for being ignorant or cheap.
