Mr. Shoigu shares power and opportunities with them and gets total obedience in return. Activities of this “family” are not limited to politics only. As IStories found out, over several decades the clan built an international business empire. After Russia invaded Ukraine, however, their Western assets turned out to be at risk. So, the clan started to split: some of its members still zealously support the so-called “special operations”, others had long moved their children to Western “enemy” countries and unambiguously spoke up against the war.
