Today, Peru is a prosperous country from a #finance point of view with one of the highest urbanization rates in the world. Otherwise, in terms of #investing, Peru is attracting more and more interest and many large companies from the #technology industry are heading to this country to establish their headquarters there. Paru facts are as always geared towards #science and include topics like #history and #geography, but to make them as interesting as possible I've included quite a few fun facts.
In the heart of South America hides a country steeped in mysteries and ancient legends - Peru. It is not just another country on the continent; it is a living museum of history, nature and culture that continues to inspire and arouse the curiosity of travelers from all over the world.
Peru covers an impressive 1.285 million square kilometers, making it over ten times the size of Bulgaria. The country is divided into three main geographical zones - the desert plain of the Costa, the majestic peaks of the Andes and the untamed Amazon jungle, which occupies 60% of the territory. In these three worlds, nature has left its mark in ways that few other lands can offer.
Peru was home to the largest empire in South America before the arrival of the Europeans, the Incas. This great civilization left behind a legacy that continues to amaze with its scale and complexity. The Inca Empire, known as Tawantisuyu, was even larger than the Roman Empire at its peak, covering an area with a population of over 10 million people. One of their most iconic cities, Machu Picchu, rises 2,400 meters above sea level, hidden among the peaks of the Andes. Built with such precision that the stones fit together perfectly without any bonding material, this ancient city remained intact through the centuries, hidden from the view of the Spanish conquerors.
But Peru is not just Machu Picchu. The mysterious Nazca Lines, the vast geoglyphs painted on the desert lands of southern Peru, continue to spark questions and theories, from astronomical calendars to links to extraterrestrial civilizations. These enigmatic figures, visible only from above, add another layer to the mystical aura of this country.
Peru is also the cradle of amazing natural phenomena. There is the highest navigable lake in the world - Titicaca, located at 3812 meters above sea level. Around it float islands made by the locals from reeds, which serve as homes for small communities and demonstrate the amazing adaptability of man to nature. In Peru, there is also the highest sand dune in the world - Cerro Blanco, which rises to 1176 meters and is a center of attraction for lovers of sandboarding.
The nature of Peru hides many more secrets. The Camu Camu fruit grows there, known for its high concentration of vitamin C, surpassing many times that of oranges. In the deep jungles of the Amazon live tribes that have had no contact with modern civilization, and the Peruvian desert is home to penguins that defy all expectations for this type of bird.
Peru is a country of contrasts and mysteries, where ancient history and the modern world coexist in harmony. From the mysterious Nazca Lines to hidden jungle tribes, Peru continues to hold its secrets, ready to be discovered by those who dare to enter this exciting world.
