In an effort to deliver out of the box footage, I decided to spend a few nights following a reindeer herd in the fjords of northern Norway near Tromsø. Wildlife cinematography comes with its load of challenges during the day so try it at night! You need specialized equipment, a lot of knowledge, a bit of luck, and especially patience.
In this mini-documentary, you can see what reindeer do at night: eat, rest, play, ruminate, fight and establish themselves within the herd for mating... I was lucky to get most of these behaviors in the video, like never captured before as the aurora danced in the sky. By using different focal lengths and letting the curious animals come to me rather than approach them (none were disturbed during the shooting), I feel like I was really able to capture the essence of their routine at night. I was even lucky to find moose that posed for me against the starry background!

The short film also features a few sequences taken in real-time, accelerated real-time, S&Q (sony) and timelapses of the winter wonderland and extremely beautiful landscapes we have have in Arctic Norway in the past weeks.
