Newton's third law explains action and reaction forces, stating that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. For example, a rocket's upward motion despite its downward thrust is due to the ground pushing back with equal force. This law applies to objects in motion or at rest, like sitting in a chair (action force: weight on chair, reaction force: chair supporting). When hitting a wall, action-reaction forces occur, but the net force isn't zero due to differences in mass, affecting velocity.
