Necrotising fasciitis is an infection of the subcutaneous fat and fascia, which is so bad that it causes these tissues to necrose.
It spreads extremely quickly and makes the patient extremely septic.
Looking at the affected area however it can be difficult to distinguish from cellulitis (a non-necrotic subcutaneous fat infection).
This is the main focus of this video to explain how one can try to clinically distinguish cellulitis and necrotising fasciitis.
