Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question...
Q: Hey. Thanks for the lesson. I practiced the chord shapes real good now, but I still don't know how to make chord progressions with extended chords myself, so which chords function together in one progression.

A: The idea of applying any of the extended chord types is actually a fairly straight-forward concept to develop! All that is necessary, is to simply extend the chord type already existing from either; triad, or seventh chord harmony. For viewers out there, if you haven't watched my Guitar Blog from Feb. 10th, 2013, take a moment out to do that now.

That video will be an excellent primer for what we'll be doing here in this video. If you're already familiar with your harmonies, and chord construction principles - extensions are as simple as adding on the 9, 11 or 13 tone, and then learning the appropriate fingering patterns on the guitar. For any of you who are unfamiliar with chord harmonies, with the chord construction concepts from music theory, or with various fingering patterns upon the neck, then this video lesson should of quite a help to you!
