You can do color film E6 processing at home, it does save a little money and is completely doable. If you'd like to try your hand at this, I'd recommend the Arista Rapid E6 Slide Developing Kit. For about $35 it will make 1 quart of chemicals.
Slide film is probably the most endangered film type around. Shoot some now before it starts going away forever.
