Unlike Billboard’s Top 100 & Hot 100 charts, the British record charts at this time tended to reflect unit sales rather than popularity of individual song tracks. However, the chart data that I’ve so far managed to uncover from Melody Maker appears to have listed both sides of this release separately, with neither song achieving the number-one position.
