If you're using the sticky post feature to highlight a coupon or event, then you can use the expire sticky post to set an expiration date for the sticky post so you don't have to remember to go in and do it yourself.
By default sticky posts only appear on the front page of your site.
But if you want to display featured content on your category archive pages, then you can install and activate the category sticky post plugin and select the sticky post category.
If you want to showcase say your latest 5 sticky posts on a particular page, then add the code to your functions.php page and then create a page with this shortcode and your latest sticky posts will be prominently displayed.
By default sticky posts are only for WordPress posts, but you can install and activate the sticky custom post types plugin to allow sticky posts on custom post types.
Add the code to keep your sticky posts from being shown in the WordPress loop.
Many themes use the post_class function to automatically add post classes for each post.
If you theme doesn't do that, then you can add the post_class function into your container and add some css like this. and this is an example of how that will look.
