In this video, let’s connect Cleaver to a custom server.

You may wish to use a server provider outside of the list of options that Cleavr integrates with. That’s OK, you can bring your own custom server to Cleavr as long as you can SSH into the server and if the server is running Ubuntu version 20.04.

From the Servers section, click on Add server.

Select Custom from the list of provider options.

You’ll see a command to run on your custom server.

Copy the command to your clipboard; then, SSH into your custom server and run the command. This will allow Cleavr to securely access your server.

Next, you’ll need to grab your custom server’s public IP and then paste it into the text field on Cleavr.

If you’d like to install databases or server environments, such as JDK, PHP, or NodeJS during this time, select the options you will require for your web application. But don’t worry, you can always install these options later if you’d like.

Once you have selected everything you’ll need, click on the provision button.

Cleavr will now connect to your server and install any environments you selected.

After Cleavr has completed setting up your server, it will send you an email letting you know provisioning has finished. Keep an eye out for the email, as it contains important information about your server.

You can now use Cleavr to manage your server and configure advanced operations such as cronjobs, process monitors, and installed services.
