Delete Photos From Google Photos But Keep on Device

Step 1: Open the file manager app on your device and create a new folder on the internal storage. Let’s name it GP Test. You can name it anything. Make sure your new created folder is not selected for auto backup & sync. Don't create a folder into the DCIM folder.

Step 2: Select all those photos that you want to keep in your phone but not Google photo and then move them into the newly created folder.

Step 3: Delete them from your new folder. (This photo will go to the trash folder, or recently deleted folder on your phone app gallery)

Step 4: Now, go to the Google photos app, and delete those photos, and also delete them from the trash folder.

Step 5: Now go to the phone gallery app-trash/recently deleted folder-restore them.

Step 6: Now you will find all those photos, and they will not upload automatically in the Google photo app. Even, if you move those photos to the camera folder and if you keep backup & sync on, they will not upload automatically.

If you need to back up them, you have to upload them manually from the gallery app- select-share-upload to Google photos.
