This is the newly revised monetized version where one bout is blurred out. One of the main comments I got were people claiming that modern sumo was rampant with corruption and match fixing. A lot of these people were brought to that conclusion thanks to a book called Freakanomics whose evidence NO LONGER holds any weight COMPARED to data from modern sumo. Meaning that it did once hold weight and was probably correct, but if that's what strays you away from watching sumo you should see how their criteria relates to data in modern sumo. Gathering this data took me hours and hours, so I only went back half a decade. In my opinion matchfixing probably hardly exists in modern sumo. Also the incident that caused the SNS ban and was Abi's first strike was not with Chiyomaru but with Wakamotoharu. At the end I meant since that 2010 article the most recent update of yakuza involvement that I could find concrete evidence for. They were involved in sumo back in the day but I see no evidence of it now. Although yakuza involvement and match fixing could exist in sumo still today just better hidden the same argument could be made for any sport.
