SUBSCRIBE TODAY!!! Showing you the steps to diagnosing bad power steering lines. To start, look at the power steering hose and lines to see if there are any noticeable cracks or leaks. If you see any wetness or fluid on the skid plate there is most likely a leak in the power steering system or it could just be oil. Then, squeeze the hoses to see if they are hardened from use. If any of the lines are hard or cracked they should be replaced. After visually seeing and touching the lines, check the power steering reservoir fluid level. If it is under level there is most likely a leak withing the system causing the fluid to drain. After checking the fluid level, have someone start the car and turn the steering wheel side to side while you look at the power steering pump hose, return line and high pressure line. If it is a very slow leak you may not notice a gush of fluid coming from any of the lines, but you will see an increased spread of wetness (leakage of fluid) on the lines. In my particular situation, there was a puddle of power steering fluid on the skid plate indicating a heavy leak. When the car was started and the steering wheel turned side to side it started gushing fluid which I could see dripping down the high pressure line. I located the issues by feeling the hardness of the return line and the cracks on it, as well as the leakage of the high pressure line when turning the wheel. These were the problems and will be replacing those lines. Thank you for watching and make sure to like and drop a comment.
