Language is a common abstract noun, an abstract noun is one which we cannot feel, touch or smell or state. Language is neuter gender. Neuter means neither, language is neither male nor female.
However, we can personify language. Personification is attributing human feelings to a non-living neuter gender like language. Language represents the beauty of conversation, the gentleness of emotions. Language represents the politeness of behaviour and beauty of communication. And hence, if we personify a language, it will be feminine gender. So what is your mother tongue?
Asia is the biggest continent with a huge population of 4.46 billion people. The linguistic diversity of Asia is unprecedented with almost 2300 languages being spoken in Asia. Let us discuss the most spoken languages in Asia.
1) Chinese: There are 1.2 billion speakers of the Chinese language, bo wonder it is the most spoken language in Asia. Chinese is a group of dialects, Mandarin is the most popular dialect of Chinese, other important dialects are Wu, Min and Yue.
Hindi: Hindi is the second most spoken language in Asia, it is the most spoken language in India. Hindi originates from Sanskrit which is the oldest language of the world. Other popular languages in India are Punjabi, Kannad, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayali, however, Hindi is the common language. Hindi is also the language which English speaking people find most easy to learn.
Hindi is the fourth most-spoken Native language of the world behind Chinese, Spanish and English.
English: English is the third most spoken language in Asia, English is the true lingua franca of the world.
Russian: Russian is the fourth most spoken language in Asia with some 260 million people using the Russian language.
Indonesian: About 240 million Asians use the Indonesian language. The Indonesian language is more commonly used than Japanese or Korean or Malaysian language.
Arabic: Arabian is an Afro-Asiatic language with 230 million Asians using Arabian language. Arabic is used in Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Kuwait, Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Israel.
Bengali or Bangla is as much popular language in Asia as Arabic with almost 230 million speakers. Apart from Bangladesh, Bangla is spoken in many parts of India including Tripura, Asam, Andaman and Nicobar and West Bengal.
Other popular languages of Asia are Japanese, Punjabi, Filipino, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai.
