Here are the steps in my simplest terms:
Imagine you are a chef and MySQL Community Server is a delicious recipe that you want to cook up on your Windows machine. To install MySQL, you can follow these steps:
Go to the MySQL website and download the MySQL Community Server installer, just like you would go to the grocery store and get all the ingredients you need for your recipe.
Run the installer, just like you would preheat your oven and get your baking pan ready.
Follow the prompts to install MySQL, just like you would mix all the ingredients together and pour the batter into the pan. Choose the installation type (e.g. Developer Default or Custom), just like you would choose what type of cake you want to bake (chocolate or vanilla).
In the "Configuration" step, choose the configuration type that you want to use (e.g. Development Machine or Server Machine), just like you would choose the size of your cake pan.
In the "Accounts and Roles" step, enter the password for the root user and choose the authentication plugin that you want to use, just like you would add the eggs and sugar to the batter.
In the "Windows Service" step, choose whether you want to configure the MySQL server as a Windows service and, if so, specify the service name and the account that the service should run under, just like you would choose the temperature and baking time for your cake.
Click the "Execute" button to install MySQL, just like you would put the cake in the oven and wait for it to bake. The installer will install the MySQL server and any necessary dependencies, just like your cake will rise and become fluffy.
When the installation is complete, click the "Finish" button to exit the installer, just like you would take the cake out of the oven and let it cool before frosting it.
You can then start the MySQL server by running the mysqld executable from the MySQL installation directory or by using the Windows Services manager, just like you would slice and serve your delicious cake.
