LIONFISH CATCH & COOK | SPEARFISHING | SOLO CAMP
It was a cool crisp, starry night, followed by a pleasant sunny morning in Yomitan, Okinawa. I woke up to the sound of waves and cicadas singing in the trees. After brewing some Italian espresso I got on my wetsuit and set forth into the watery abyss to slay some lionfish, an easy target for an amateur spearfisherman like me. This was my fourth time out and I'm learning something new every time. Today's lesson: fish react to sudden, small movements...so it's best to move slowly and smoothly. The filets were small but tasty, and would have been even better with a little olive oil or butter. What is your favorite fish to eat? My apologies to the vegans...
