Here’s a superb low-prep experiment that will amaze your tiny tot.
Use some water, string, and paper cups and challenge your little one to make the water walk on a tightrope.
You can also add food colouring for a magical effect.
This experiment can be used to introduce your budding scientist to color mixing concepts as well!
The Science Behind It:
Water can travel down the string from one cup and fill another because of amazing properties of water molecules. First, water sticks to the string because of adhesion i.e. when water sticks to other substances- In this case, the string.
Plus, since the string was wet at the beginning of the experiment, this shows the properties of cohesion! Water molecules love to stick to one another- cohesion. Through adhesion and cohesion, the water is able to travel down and ""stick"" to the string.
We hope you try this at home very soon. Happy learning! ❤️🥳
