Deployment in Sling, currently achieved via a variety of tools and mechanisms loosely connected via the Sling OSGi Installer, is focused for the most part on the provisioning of single instances. With the advent of microservices and cloud hosting, new challenges and opportunities appear on the horizon which must yet be adequately addressed. In this talk, we will survey the field, identify requirements as well as opportunities for improving the existing solutions, and rethink it in the light of the future challenges.
